The analysis of phase separation and phase distribution phenomena using two-fluid models

Abstract It is the purpose of this paper to investigate the ability of multidimensional two-fluid models to predict the observed phase separation and lateral phase distribution phenomena. It will be shown that such phenomena can be predicted once all significant physical mechanisms have been adequately modelled. Indeed, this paper shows, for the first time, that closed-loop predictions are possible of multidimensional phase distribution and phase separation in two-phase flows.
