NEW YORK CITY WOODLANDS AND THE SPECIAL NATURAL AREA DISTRICTS

Summary New York City woodlands have been studied for many years but until recently formal management was not undertaken. Current developments in planning and urban forestry have led to intensified woodland management and the establishment of Special Natural Area Districts. The new management techniques strive to preserve the diversity and integrity of woodlands in the private and public domain.
