Design and analysis of multiple ridge waveguide for wideband application

The 1–18 GHz antenna is used widely in antenna and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) measurements and feeds for reflector systems. In these applications, a well behaved antenna pattern is a complete necessity. The traditional 1–18GHz Double Ridge Waveguide (DRWG) suffers from pattern deterioration above 12GHz. At these frequencies, instead of maintaining a single main lobe radiation pattern, the pattern splits up. An improved 1–18GHz DRWG is presented. The latest design has less return loss, better VSWR and performance without any pattern deterioration. The techniques used in the new design of DRWG antenna are implemented in Multiple Ridge Wave Guide TRPWG (Triple Pair Ridge Wave Guide) to get better gain, VSWR and performance without any pattern deterioration and for enhancement in the frequency of operation.
