OPTIMAL OPERATION OF WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS UNDER FULL RANGE OF OPERATING SCENARIOS

This paper presents a modelling technique and an optimal operation scheme for water distribution systems under full range of operating scenarios with/without leakage. Predictive control strategies are formulated based on piecewise affine control model of the system and the control problem is then cast into hybrid predictive control category. Optimal system operation is fulfilled by softly switching between different predictive control strategies each of which fits for a different operating scenario. Feasibility of the proposed modelling and optimal operational scheme is verified by an example network implemented using Matlab-Epanet computer simulation. Copyright © 2006 USTARTH
