A high accuracy Direction-Of-Arrival and Misalignment Angle Detector

High-precision Direction-Of-Arrival measurements are often a challenge. The need to accurately detect the angle of incidence of an incoming electromagnetic wave with respect to a reference geometrical axis is very important for automotive and security applications. Furthermore, the ability to measure a misalignment angle of a transmitting antenna in respect to a reference is a task required by countless industrial applications. A high accuracy angle-detection system is hereby presented and measurement results from a prototype detecting a 24 GHz source are shown.
