Investigation into the binding between grinding wheel and arbor during plunge form grinding using a combined tool

The method used by boring bit manufactures, which involves the separate grinding of the cutter grooves and legs, is obsolete and inefficient. In this method three a rbors are used, each of which ca r r i e s a grinding wheel secured by a nut; each wheel grinds a different groove. The Kuibyshev Bit Plant is at present engaged in the introduction of a new method for the simultaneous plunge grinding of all grooves and legs of 190 and 214 mm diameter bits.
