Research on full-process model of fuel cell generation system

Considering the full operation processes of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) generation system which includes hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen usage and electricity generation, this paper presents a PEMFC model composed of fuel flow rate unit, fuel cell unit, electrolyzer unit, hydrogen storage unit and control unit. The operation response of the model is obtained by simulation. The simulation results show that as power demand increase, the fuel cell stack can remain at preset operation voltage while model operating current rises. At the same time, the valve opening of hydrogen storage tank increases, the tank pressure drops and the overall efficiency of hydrogen generation in one cycle decreases. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the model and agree well with the operation characteristics of actual system.
