A Low PAPR WLED Communication System Using SC-FDMA Techniques

White LED technology, which is regarded as an environment-friendly lighting, not only illuminates rooms but also provides short range wireless communication. Recently, DMT techniques like OFDM have been adopted for WLED communication. However as OFDM has the inherent high PAPR property, such a system produces flickering light that can be detected by human eyes. In this paper, the application of SC-FDMA to WLED communication system is investigated. Because of the low PAPR property, a white LED communication system combined with SC-FDMA outperforms comparable systems based on OFDMA, considered in terms of BER performance under various consideration. Moreover, the proposed system also protects LED device's lifetime and human's eye from over bright due to peak signal power. Computer simulations corroborate the analysis.
