Underwater Signal Detection Based on Distributed Detection Fusion Technique

This paper considers the problem of optimum detection for a diestributed detection system consisting of a fusion center and multiple sensors. To optimize the system performance, the fusion rule at fusion center and the decision rules at all the sensors must be globally optimized. The necessary conditions for the global optimization of system performance are given, and a numerical iterative algorithm is designed to obtain a solution to this global optimization problem. From simulation results, it is seen that when a distributed underwater signal detection system is optimized by using this fusion algorithm, the performance of the system can be improved significantly.
