Research on the Power Density of the Automatic MPPT Wind Power Generator System

Reducing the production cost is an ongoing goal for the manufacturers of small-scale off-grid wind power generator systems. However, very little research found in literature focuses on it. We proposed a novel double-winding generator in 2013 for the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) problem of the small-scale off-grid wind power generator systems. This new generator contains two sets of Y-connected three-phase-winding, which helps to increase the power density. This paper compares the amount of copper of the new generator with that of a conventional generator, and proposes the theoretical explanation.
