Synthesis of paromamine.

Paromamine1>2) is a common and antibacterial moiety of paromomycin I and II, and kanamycin C, and was recently isolated3) from a crude kanamycin-complex. The synthesis4) had already been achieved in our laboratory through the condensation of bis-N,N/-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2-deoxystreptamine with 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-(2,4dinitroanilino)-^-D-glucopyranosyl bromide. This paper describes an improved synthesis of paromamine (7), its position isomer (8) being also described.
