Characteristics of hydrogenated amorphous silicon alloy solar cells on a Lambertian back reflector

Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a‐Si) alloy n i p solar cells have been prepared on back reflectors exhibiting Lambertian light scattering characteristics. The Lambertian back reflector consists of highly textured Ag/ZnO films deposited on stainless‐steel substrates. Contrary to expectation, the current voltage (I‐V) characteristics under illumination are marginally poorer than the corresponding characteristics of cells grown on conventional back reflectors. The stabilized efficiency is similar for both cases. The dependence of the cell performance on the texture of the back reflector is discussed.
