Large interferometer antennas synthesised by satellites in formation for Earth remote sensing

Soil moisture and ocean salinity can be remotely sensed using spaceborne radiometers operating at 21 cm wave length where a 27 MHz width frequency band is allocated to radioastronomy activities. This paper describes a new radiometer concept SFASIL (1), based on three satellites combining their individual sparse arrays capabilities in order to synthesise a much larger interferometric radiometer.
