Collaborative Virtual Queue: Benefit Analysis of a Collaborative Decision Making Concept Applied to Congested Airport Departure Operations

In this paper, the authors examine the potential benefits of using a collaborative decision making (CDM) concept in reducing congestion at airports. They present the Collaborative Virtual Queue (CVQ) which uses virtual queuing to keep aircraft away from runway queues and enable last-minute flight swapping. The possibilities for improving taxi-out time robustness in addition to potential impacts of last-minute intra-airline pushback reordering actions are evaluated.
