Integrating online media materials into KFL curriculum design and its effect on learner’s competency

This paper presents the integration of Korean online television products, including dramas, TV shows, and advertisement into varying proficiency levels of Korean language courses in a North American university setting. With the recently increased attention to Korean popular culture among Korean language learners, a majority of students tend to consume a variety of cultural goods beyond the classroom setting primarily via online resources. This study discusses the results of student questionnaires and interviews on the effect of utilization of carefully selected media materials in classroom instruction and pedagogical implications of KFL curricular practice.
