This work integrates separate models of the earlier researchers of the separate stages of the ingot handling process into one integrated model able to handle all phases of the process. It also is the first application of the techniques of state space modelling, on-line estimation and advanced control as a total set of techniques to minimize the energy consumption of industrial processing.
