Apparatus and method for coding and decoding of cqi information in communication system using high speed downlink packet access scheme

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding CQI(Channel Quality Indicator) information in an HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) communication system are provided to encode and decode a channel without increasing complexity with respect to CQI information changed according as a pilot is transmitted to an HS-DPCCH(High Speed-Dedicated Physical Control CHannel). CONSTITUTION: A CQI channel encoder(1004) receives CQI information for indicating the quality of a node B signal transmitted to a UE(User Equipment), generates coding symbols with predetermined numbers, and generates coding symbols according to the control of a controller. In the case of transmitting an HS-pilot, the controller including an HS-pilot controller(1000) and a CQI channel coding controller(1002) controls a code word outputting unit(1003) and a decoder(1006) so that the number of symbols of the HS-pilot are subtracted from the coding symbols and the subtracted symbols are outputted. In case that the HS-pilot is not transmitted, the controller controls the code word outputting unit(1003) and the decoder(1006) so that all the coding symbols are outputted. When the subtracted symbols are outputted, a multiplexer(1008) multiplexes the outputted symbols and the symbols of the HS-pilot, and transmits the multiplexed symbols. When all the coding symbols are outputted, the multiplexer(1008) transmits the coding symbols.
