Knowledge management in small and medium-size software corporations

In China, more and more small and medium-size software corporations realize that the knowledge of their employees is their most valuable asset, and it is very necessary for them to manage knowledge and achieve competitiveness. Firstly, the current situation of KM (knowledge management) in those corporations is reviewed, and a conceptual KM framework suited for them is presented. Secondly, the relation of KM and CMM/CMMI is discussed, and a combining model of KM and software process management based on CMM/CMMI is explored. Thirdly, a KM system model and its technological solution are illustrated. At last, some experiences about implementing KM are shared.
