An ADC12500 multifunction fast recorder

A wideband two-channel waveform recorder module based on 12-bit analog-to-digital converters with a maximal sampling frequency of 500 MHz is described. The digital recorder unit is based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) elements, allowing one to change the functional area of its main assemblies with the aid of the program. The device is equipped with a buffer storage with a capacity of a 3M samples/channel and built-in Ethernet-10/100 communication channel, supporting procedures of the command and information exchange with the server and a procedure of the remote loading of a configuration file into the FPGA. The device is oriented at operation as part of multichannel measuring systems, ensuring the synchronous recording and preliminary processing of data in the real-time mode in neutron, spectroscopic, laser, and other diagnostics, used as part of the study in the field of plasma physics and controlled nuclear fusion. Examples of using the recorder in similar applications are given.
