Location algorithm for line to ground fault on power distribution lines

Line to ground fault is the most frequent fault on power distribution lines. Fast and accurate fault location is important to the normal working of power distribution lines. This paper described the line model of distributed parameters and presents a new algorithm for line to ground fault location using one terminal electrical data of distribution lines based on the theorem of symmetry components separation. This algorithm has been proved to be effective for single transmission line and distribution network with offset lines by computer simulation and the fault impedance does not affect the location accuracy. This algorithm is very propitious to fault location for distribution lines.
