Influence of Exogenous Steroid Hormones on Different Fatty Acids of Milk Lipids. Preliminary Report

Abstract Progesterone had little or no effect on the composition of milk lipids. Estrogen had little or no effect upon the endogenous synthesis of fatty acids in the mammary gland. In contrast, those fatty acids known to arise from the blood glycerides were affected by estrogen. Thus, it appears that estrogen exerts an effect on the blood glycerides.
