Tolerance for optical coherent crosstalk of a novel Manchester-code receiver

We present a novel differential receiver, that enables the realisation of large scale optical networks. We confirm its sensitivity of -35.6 dBm and its tolerance for coherent crosstalk signal powers of up to -12 dB within 3.2 dB sensitivity penalty. We have proposed a novel configuration for a differential receiver, and demonstrated signal reception at a data rate of 10 Gbit/s with an experimental receiver. We believe that our differential receiver enables large scale optical networks to be designed while minimising the coherent crosstalk problem.
