Modeling and control of AC current and DC voltage of PWM converters using polynomial RST and PI controllers

This work presents an application of RST polynomial controllers to a unity power factor PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) rectifier, in order to achieve zero steady-state error while tracking the sinusoidal AC current reference. A detailed design procedure is presented, including the calculation of DC capacitor and AC inductor, analytic modeling of both DC voltage and AC current loops and linearization of the DC loop. The DC loop is regulated with a PI (Proportional-Integral) plus feed-forward (in order to counteract the DC load current, modeled as a disturbance) controllers. The AC loop is regulated with a RST plus feed-forward (in order to counteract the bus voltage, modeled as a disturbance) controllers.
