A survey of social-psychological articles published between 1965 and 1983 was undertaken to examine the growth of social psychologists' interest in clinically relevant research. Raters coded 3111 articles published in five social-psychological journals at 3-year intervals beginning in 1965. The publication patterns showed a significant increase in social—clinical research in journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, but not in the other three journals. The past history and current status of social—clinical research within social psychology is discussed.
