공조기용 열교환기의 성능평가

The evaporator and the condenser play an important role in the size, efficiency, and noise of a room air-conditioner. Performace improvement for the air-side fin is important since thermal performance and noise of heat exchangers are greatly influenced by the fin. In this study, scale models three times larger were made on the basis of a dimensional analysis, and the scaled-up fin models were tested in the subsonic wind tunnel to study the thermal characteristics and pressure drop. In addition, image processing technique and liquid crystal were used to visualize the temperature distribution on the fin, and a numerical analysis by a commercial software package, FLUENT, was made to research the local heat transfer and flow characteristics on the fin. The optimum high efficiency fin configuration was sought with the aid of both experimental and numerical work as described abov e.Finally, the experimental result of a large scale fin model was compared with that of a prototype fin to justify the use of large scale fin model.
