Side-peaks Cancellation Analytic Design Framework with Applications in BOC Signals Unambiguous Processing

Binary offset carrier (BOC) modulation which is used in new generation of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) signals provides these signals with enhanced robustness against multipath and increases the precision of range measurement. However, since the BOC signal has a multi-peak auto-correlation function (ACF), it will bring ambiguity problem to signal acquisition and tracking if the traditional matching-correlator-based methods are used in receivers. Side-peaks cancellation techniques can be used to solve the ambiguity problem, the key of which is using some synthesized correlation functions instead of BOC ACF in acquisition and tracking. Several SC methods have been developed. However, the design of SC algorithms is still scarce of uniform theoretical frame and analytical method.
