This paper describes a modelling framework for evaluating the city-wide impact of driver information systems. The framework consists of a route choice module and a traffic simulation module. The route choice module considers different categories of drivers' route choice behaviour with different levels of access to traffic information. The traffic simulation module simulates dynamic network conditions in response to traffic information. The framework allows the investigation of delays in a road network under different driver information systems. Some results are provided to demonstrate the use of the framework. They suggest that traffic information provision can reduce the total network delay. However, there is an optimum level of market penetration, beyond which real-time information can no longer reduce delay of the network and the individual.
