A Semi-Blind Watermarking Scheme for Color Images

Welcome to the 2006 Western New York Image Processing Workshop! The workshop is in its ninth year, having been conducted annually since its inception in 1997 (except for a moratorium in 2002 caused by ICIP in Rochester). The primary goal of the workshop is to promote interactions among researchers in the local image processing community and thereby foster collaborations. It serves that purpose well and has become a constant fixture in the calendars of local image processing researchers. This year our call for participation evoked a very positive response. As a result, we have a full-day program with papers in the following technical areas: 1) and Kodak. In addition, we will continue the best student paper awards created in the recent years – two awards will be presented this year. We are very pleased to have two excellent plenary talks at this year's workshop. will deliver the morning plenary on " Ubiquitous Multimedia Computing and Communication: Challenges and Future Trends ". Dr. Kuo's talk highlight three emerging R&D efforts: (1) the design of a multi-format video codec to strike a balance between flexibility and performance, (2) the design of low-complexity integrated encryption and compression speech/video coding algorithms, which can significantly lower the power consumption of mobile terminals for the digital rights management (DRM), and (3) the rate-distortion-complexity (RDC) optimized video coding techniques. The afternoon plenary talk, entitled " Improving the Security of Biometric Systems " , will be given by Dr. Venu Govindaraju from University of Buffalo. Dr. Govindaraju's talk discusses their research dealing with technical challenges in Biometric system. He will first describe a novel implementation of a "secure" fingerprint matching algorithm that preserves privacy while not making impractical assumptions, and then describe a classifier combination methodology using a Bayesian framework for verification and identification problems in biometrics. Finally, he will demonstrate how practical systems must deal with partial data captured by miniaturized commercial sensors and matching algorithms that normalize the individual differences in order to make the implementation tractable. We would like to acknowledge the help and support that we have received from the Center for Electronic Imaging Systems (CEIS), and RIT Center for Imaging Science (CIS), and the sponsorship from Eastman Kodak Company and Xerox Corporation. In particular, we thank Carl Schauffele and Heather Tipaldos of CEIS, and Bozana Zekan and Michelle Seger of RIT for their support and help in the workshop arrangement. We would like …
