Formal kinetic evaluation of reactions with partial diffusion control

Abstract The use of non-linear regression for a series of measurements with different heating rates or different reaction temperatures (multivariate non-linear regression) allows the reliable formal kinetic evaluation of reactions. As a result, an optimum data reduction is achieved and the practician can predict the reaction behaviour for any reaction conditions. Even reactions with partial diffusion control can now be investigated. In this paper we demonstrate this for DSC measurements of an epoxy resin curing reaction. The only additional requirement is the measurement of a glass transition temperature Tg as function of conversion α.
