Identification of Mode Switching Condition in Overtaking Behavior Using Variable-Free Logistic Regression Model

This paper presents an identification of mode switching condition in the overtaking behavior on the express way. The key idea is to introduce a logistic regression model without any prior assumption on the input variables. First of all, the overtaking behavior is observed, and set of possible candidates of the variables are specified. Then, by applying the model selection technique, a minimum set of necessary variables is found together with their corresponding coefficients. Finally, the obtained model is verified by applying the model to the behavior prediction in the overtaking behavior on the driving simulator.
