The design of reinforcement in sheet metal works is extremely important. especially for vehicle manufacturers because the raw material itself is too thin to resist the external loads. Reinforcements are. usually applied to the part whose style is to be kept such as hood. doors. etc. Some literatures have shown that the topology optimization technique can be effectively applied to the design of reinforcements. In this research. a synthetic procedure for design of reinforcement will be presented regarding the manufacturing process. Three steps are performed in order to get the final design of reinforcement. Firstly. topology optimization technique is used for finding the optimal topology of. a reinforcement structure. Secondly. a sheet metal to be stamped is designed from obtained topology using CAD tool. Lastly. the design of reinforcement is finalized using the configuration optimization.
