Control techniques for synchronous motor with flexible shaft

The paper deals with the continuous and discrete-time nonlinear control of a synchronous motor with a long flexible shaft. It is shown that a multirate control strategy can be successfully used to track a desired load position, ensuring the stability of the whole control system. Simulation results, considering realistic computation delay and the effect of the inverter, are presented and compared with a classic control strategy.<<ETX>>
