An alpha - alpha coincidence method is used to detect the particles coming from the breakup of /sup 8/Be in the 16.626 and 16.921 Mev excited states. The 18.826 Mev /sup 8/Be stafe has T = 1. The observed breakup does not flt the isobaric-spin conservation rule. (auth)
