Applications of CCD and switched capacitor filter technology

Since the earliest developments of charge transfer devices for signal processing functions, there has been a rapid evolution of the technology towards the capability of implementing complex signal processing functions on a single silicon substrate. Recently, switched capacitor filter technology has proven to be a complementary monolithic filter technology which is compatible with CCD's in fabrication. We review the operating principles of both filter technologies and present some recent developments in a number of signal process applications.
