Mixed voltage /current mode control of PWM synchronous buck converter

In this paper, we propose a mixed voltage/current mode control method of synchronous buck converter. Such mixed mode control lies between the traditional voltage mode and current mode control, but has the advantages of better noise immunity than current mode, better load transient response than voltage mode. While it is possible to design an optimal controller for synchronous buck converter under mixed mode operation, an example is provided to show that the traditional type III compensator is sufficient to stabilize the synchronous buck converter under all the three operating modes with different dynamic response performance.
