Advances in lead-acid batteries

This symposium was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A., on October 8-11, 1984. The last symposium on lead-acid batteries was held at the Electrochemical Society meeting in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., in October 1979. Thus, the work in this symposium volume covers advances in lead-acid batteries over the last 5 years. To our knowledge, this is the largest and most international symposium on lead-acid batteries yet held. Forty-four papers were presented by authors from 13 countries around the world: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czechoslovakia, England, the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States of America. The topics ranged from experimental and theoretical studies of the fundamental electrochemistry of the system to performance of new product designs and reviews of industry trends. Forty of these papers, as well as an introductory chapter, are included in this volume.
