The domestic and foreign research methods of network capacity were summarized at first,and comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of urban road network and the traffic was performed.Then the stress test methods was first used to research network capacity,and the hill-climbing and dichotomy combined loading method were applied innovatively.This design idea and method were applied to predict the road network capacity of Huairou area of Beijing.The predicted values accord with the actual road network conditions.The validity of this method was verified,which could provide a scientific theory support for quality evaluation of road network,road network planning,road network reconstruction,traffic management and control.
