Changes of Private Car Use in Response to Travel Demand Management

The paper reviews different measures for managing the demand for car use. A theoretical framework is then presented with the aim of providing a means of analyzing how these measures affect car use. In the proposed theoretical framework car users' responses are conceptualized as adaptations of their daily activities and travel. An overview follows of some research examining this adaptation process that was conducted recently. The paper finishes with conclusion and a discussion of needs and directions for future research.
