Communication plays a crucial role in system development projects. In this paper, communication means supporting participatory design projects are presented on the background of teaching participatory system development in a university context. The use of communication consultants, i. e. project members who are particularly responsible for communication within a project, and the use of project diaries, i. e. a means of refiecting project activities in addition to product documentation, are investigated, and implications for the practice are discussed.
