Network coding for cognitive radio systems

We consider a cognitive radio network where secondary users (SUs) employ network coding for data transmissions. SU transmission time is reduced due to network coding. And it increases spectrum availability to SUs. Our results show that compared to the existing approaches based on retransmission, SUs can achieve higher stable throughput, and the probability that SU has confliction with the primary user (PU) due to sudden appearance of a PU is smaller.
