Micromechanical aspects of the fibre-cement bond

Abstract The nature and properties of the interfacial region determine stress transfer between components of a composite and the development of the stress/strain curve, strength and the toughness of the composite. In this paper, the effect of the bonding on fibre pull-out, multiple cracking and strength, is considered. The measurement of the strength of the bonds is discussed.
