Design of Vehicle License Recognition System Based on SOPC Technique

The system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC), developed by Altera Corporation, is a flexible and efficient SOC design methodology and provides a good solution to the design of a real-time and portable vehicle license plate location and recognition system. Bade on Altera Corporation's FPGA hardware development platform and Nios II processor, a system on one FPGA chip for vehicle license plate location and recognition is developed. The function and global structure of the system is first described, and the algorithm of vehicle license plate location and recognition, and the process flow of the system are then investigated in detail. Experiment results show that the system has the advantages of high integration, high reliability, and high recognition precision.
