Arabic mobile applications: Challenges of interaction design and development

It is estimated that the Arabic-language mobile applications are going to grow in the near future. Many summits are being held to increase the awareness of the need of enriching the Arabic digital content. Almost none of the studies, however, have had its focus on identifying the challenging aspects of developing Arabic mobile applications. In this paper, we present our exploration of the interaction design and development challenges of creating efficient and effective Arabic mobile applications. Our focus has been on the user from one hand, and on the designer and developer on the other hand. We support our findings with a questionnaire, whose results emphasize the need of considering the identified challenges by interaction designers, developers, and other stakeholders in the early stages of the software life cycle.
