ONE-DIMENSIONAL PLASMA MODEL IN THE PRESENCE OF A MAGNETIC FIELD.

A new sheet model is developed which is suitable for studying one‐dimensional electromagneto‐kinetic disturbances propagating with an arbitrary angle to an applied magnetic field. The model is a generalization of the sheet charge‐type models previously considered. The concept of a retardationless electromagnetic field is introduced to provide the coupling between the sheet charges and currents. Some examples of wave propagation using the model are shown which compare very well with those predicted from the dispersion relation.
