Distribution network fault location based on zero-sequence acquisition value

Most ground-fault location methods for un-grounded power system need to install additional equipment, and can only determine the fault feeder, but do nothing about fault segment selection. In order to locate fault accurately, the zero-sequence circuit of faulted distribution network is analyzed. The fault characteristics of electrical acquisition values are obtained, and several criteria for fault phase, feeder and segment selection based on zero-sequence acquisition values are proposed. The application of this method in distribution network with distributed generators is also discussed.Verified by Matlab simulation, the proposed method is not only highly reliable and precise, but also saves equipment costs, reduces implementation difficulty, which highly adapts to the construction of smart distribution network.
