RESEARCH ON THE STATIC STIFFNESS OF JOINTS IN MACHINE TOOLS

The paper deals with the results of theoretical and experimental researches of stiffness of flat tightened and untightened joints, slide-ways, roller- and ball-type ways. It includes the data about the significance of the deflection of joints in the overall tool-workpiece deviation of a machine tool. The paper presents the results of the study of the effect of the surface roughness, flatness deviation, lubricants, initial interface pressure on the joint, the stiffness of jointed parts and the distance between clamping bolts, on the joint stiffness. A method of calculating the joint deflections is proposed. The comparison of calculated and experimental results is also given.
