Water body extraction from multi-source satellite images

This paper introduces an original entropy-based method for water body extraction from multi-source satellite images. The proposed method is remarkably simple and relies only on the assumption that water body in the image is a smooth area. This assumption is most of the time verified in optical and radar images, which makes the approach insensitive to image sensors. Experimental results illustrate the robustness of the proposed approach.
