Applying Trajectory approach for computing worst-case end-to-end delays on an AFDX network

Abstract As a new generation of Aircraft Data Network, AFDX is a kind of high real-time system, and the worst-case end-to-end transmission delay analysis on it has been a major concern. Up to now, this analysis is done thanks to the Network Calculus method and the Trajectory approach. This paper analyses the worst-case end-to-end delays of an AFDX avionics network. The application of the Trajectory approach is described. Moreover, we carry on a brief contrast analysis of these two approaches. We show that, the Trajectory approach outperforms the Network Calculus method in most cases, especially when the network is under a heavy load.
