Power quality improvement using sinusoidal pulse width modulation(spwm)system

In this paper various power quality problems created by the widespread use of conventional diode bridge rectifiers and line-commutated AC/DC converters have been discussed. The state-of-the-art multilevel converters used as improved power quality converters have been covered in this paper with emphasis on three-level neutral-point clamped converters. This converter has been investigated for improved power quality and various simulation results have been presented to prove their effectiveness in terms of excellent power quality like nearly unity input power factor and negligible harmonic distortion of source current. This paper describes the results on the basis of MATLAB simulation. It is shown how, with suitable Modifications, the conventional Regular Sampled PWM technique can be simply extended to allow Harmonic Minimization and also Harmonic Elimination PWM to be closely reproduced using simple algebraic equations. This survey paper will provide the insight of trends and technology of "Power Quality Improvement using S PWM Technique.
