Reliability Assessment Considering the Coordination of Wind Power,Solar Energy and Energy Storage

In order to utilize the renewable energy source as much as possible without deteriorating the overall system reliability, some operating strategies should be adopted to achieve the goal of coordinated dispatch and operation after the integration of hybrid generating system. But current reliability assessment is lack of consideration about coordination of large-scale hybrid generating system consisting of wind power, solar photovoltaic power and energy storage. So reliability evaluation model of wind power, solar photovoltaic power and energy storage are developed based on sequential Monte Carlo simulation. Some new operating strategies were presented. The inherent characteristics that determine the chronological variation of power output are incorporated when modeling, including wind speed, solar radiation, ambient temperature, energy conversion performance and charge/discharge constraints of energy storage. The proposed models were applied to IEEE RTS79 and the simulation calculation was performed by programming in Matlab. The impacts of operating strategies, configuration of hybrid generating system and energy storage characteristic on system adequacy were investigated. This result can provide reference to the planning and designing of hybrid generating system.
